You will need:
Plastic blocks, marker

Pre-planning:
Write the letters for words that the child is already aware of on blocks. (Refer to the image)
Write one letter on one block.

Helpful information:
An important stage in learning to read is mastering the three-letter words, especially the CVC words. (consonant/vowel/consonant) Once a child knows the letter sounds, they are only a short step away from reading.

Let’s Go:
• Keep the three blocks together to show the child that when these three letters come together, they make a word. For example, keep blocks with /c/, /a/, /n/ together to make the word /can/.
• Ask the child to say the sound of each letter from left to right, in sequence, and then try saying these sounds faster to get the word /can/.
